THE AWARD PROGRAM

African Diaspora Education Society seeks to honor outstanding Africans, organizations, and corporations in the U.S. that have shown achievement in several disciplines. 

The evening will focus on awarding African community leaders who have exceeded in the areas that meets with ADES listed mission and goals and helping those who dropped out of school due to financial difficulties to continue their education.

Nominees of the African Diaspora are people who have made a difference in the African community and, continue to make a difference in the everyday life of its people in the United States. Nominees must be in good leadership and moral standing.

The following awards will be presented for leadership and excellence in several areas:

1. HUMAN RIGHTS AWARD:

The ADES Human Rights Award honors an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the cause of human rights internationally, as well as the African community.

This individual exemplifies a noble spirit of service to human beings and their rights, Africans and its Diaspora, and to developing regional and continental peace.

A second award under this category will be presented to honor an individual or organization that has made an outstanding pro bono contribution to human rights.

2. AFRICAN DIASPORA COMMUNITY SUPPORT AWARD:

The African Diaspora community award honors an individual, community or group, and organizations that have made tremendous contributions to the African community and influenced our most worthwhile causes and peace. The goal of recognizing exemplary community work is to be accomplished through honor, recognition and building awareness.

3. FEMALE ROLE MODEL AWARD:

This award honors women who through professional or personal accomplishments have acted as positive role models for African women, both young and old. The Candidates should possess some or all of the following qualifications:

  • F   Female role models, either based on personal or professional accomplishments and contributions to the community.

  • F Leadership roles in promoting equality, and creating opportunities for women.

  • F Involvement in the creation, or implementation of programs to better the status of women.

4. BUSINESSMAN/WOMAN AWARD:

The recipient of this award will have demonstrated consistent community leadership and achieved results beyond a single field of endeavor, by combining efforts in business and non-profit organizations. Individuals with 2 to 5 years of community involvement would be considered for this award. Further, the awardees will demonstrate that his or her business has the capability to expand around the African continent and its Diaspora community.

5. ACTION ON HIV/ AIDS AWARD:

This Award is intended to highlight outstanding contributions that have decreased the vulnerability of contracting HIV/AIDS, and which protects the rights and dignity of those infected and affected. Further, this award recognizes excellence and long-term commitment to having a direct impact on HIV/AIDS issues and its victims.

6. AFRICAN DIASPORA PRESS AWARD:

This award is to recognize an African Diaspora press or individual of press that has developed and helped promote communication or information.

7. MEDIA AWARD:

Recognizes a group or media organization, (Radio, TV, or Internet), or an individual in media that promotes the African culture within the African community.

8. ART AND CULTURAL AWARD:

To recognize an individual artist for his or her accomplishment in art and cultural contributions to the material prosperity and happiness of the people and the community for which it was intended.

9. AFRICAN FASHION AWARD:

To recognize a Hairdresser and a designer for their works among their community and their contributions to carry African style to the external world so that it will be known and better appreciated.

10. AFRICAN MUSIC AWARD:

To recognize a singer for his or her works among is community and his or her contributions to carry African music to the external world.

11. NON GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION AWARD:

Recognize an organization that has established and maintains a good relationship within the African Diaspora community.

12. YOUTH CREATION AWARD:

This award is to recognize the projects created and developed by the African Diaspora youth, and to encourage their creativity in research, technology and literature, as well as to promote their enthusiasm and motivation in creating developing projects.

13. EDUCATION AWARD:

The Africa Education Award for Excellence will recognize and honor a school for their contribution in the development of education within the African community.

 

14. AFRICAN RESTAURANT AWARD:

This Award will honor a restaurant Owner or restaurant that has provided good service to the African people.
